Mark O’Hare is a Vice Chairman for BlackRock where he focuses on clients, strategy and talent as BlackRock builds a unified technology platform that can deliver an unrivalled investment experience for clients across their whole portfolio.
Mark founded Preqin in 2002 and served as Chief Executive Officer for the premier independent provider of private markets data.
Since BlackRock acquired Preqin in 2025, Mark has been working with BlackRock leaders, teams and clients to leverage Preqin to extend the firm’s technology offering and to create a transformative opportunity for Aladdin to bridge the transparency gap between public and private markets. Combining Preqin data and analytics with Aladdin and BlackRock investment technology will help clients build more diverse, resilient portfolios by delivering the transparency and insights they seek.
Before Preqin, Mark was a Manager with Boston Consulting Group. He also founded Citywatch, the equity shareholdings information service that is now part of Refinitiv. He is a graduate of Cambridge University, where he received a master’s degree in mathematics and a postgraduate diploma in mathematical statistics. He studied finance at London Business School.
